Copello are working with a defence client who are looking for a Principal Electronics Engineer to develop and maintain complex defence systems and products. This includes a wide range of communication, navigation and identification products for use in demanding aerospace environments.
In this role you would be expected to provide innovative solutions to challenging design and product sustainment activities. This covers the full development lifecycle from requirements capture, system level design, concept development, simulation, prototyping, optimisation and verification, through to production support and product sustainment. The role also includes line management of the Electronics design team, providing expert technical guidance and enabling the team's professional development.
Key responsibilities- Design, develop and test innovative solutions for electronics, considering emerging technologies in product designs
- Requirements analysis, review and substantiation with customers
- Drive the test, characterisation and verification for prototype and product designs, ensuring qualification and requirements compliance
- Customer and internal stakeholder-facing, representing the team and business unit, always acting like an owner with a bias for action
- Drive new business through managing bids, developing concept designs, project-level estimation and generating technical proposals
- Line manager, setting clear and measurable objectives, conducting annual appraisals, professional development plan reviews, and providing support and mentorship to developing Engineers
- A bachelor's degree or higher in Electronic and Electrical engineering
- Experience of leading and growing high performing engineering teams
- Minimum 3 years' experience in RTL Design and Verification (preferably VHDL) in either a product-development or IP-development role
- Minimum 3 years' experience of ideally Xilinx Vivado/ISE or intel (Altera) QuartusPrime; or alternatively ASIC design experience
- Experience of Timing constraints creation, analysis and closure both CPLD/FPGA on-chip and inter-device
- Experience of configuration management in a team environment (Git, svn, etc.)
- Knowledge of releasing firmware to Production
- Experience of deriving and capturing system level requirements from high level customer requirements
- Experience of interfacing with hardware devices and peripherals
- Knowledge of DO-254, DO-178 would be advantageous
