Copello have partnered with an established engineering business based in Fareham in the recruitment of a HR Operations Manager to join their wider HR function.
The role will offer flexibility for hybrid working and a salary of between £45K-£50K with a range of benefits.

Role Responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with key stakeholders to address operational needs and deliver efficient, high-quality HR services, with a focus on continuous improvement. Serve as the main point of contact for any transactional HR activities.
- HR and Business Strategy: Ensure operational HR activities align with both HR and overall business strategy.
- HR Administration: Oversee the administration of employee-related changes, including promotions, salary reviews, bonuses, and other processes. Ensure all employee records comply with Data Protection requirements, maintaining data accuracy and providing robust reporting to support decision-making.
- Training: Ensure compliance with mandatory training requirements across the business.
- Standard Operating Procedures: Lead the development, maintenance, and rollout of HR operating procedures, ensuring adherence to established standards.
- Policy and Procedure: Regularly review and update HR policies in line with legislative changes, providing guidance on updating policies and ensuring the effective implementation of shared service centre procedures through advice, mentoring, and coaching.
- Process Improvement: Enhance HRIS systems (e.g., Workday) by leveraging technology to improve operational efficiency.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with employment laws, safety regulations, and statutory requirements. Assist in audits to maintain adherence to these regulations.
- Employee Relations: Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR processes, policies, and systems before escalating issues to the shared service centre.
- Talent Acquisition: Lead the end-to-end talent acquisition process, including updating role profiles, posting job adverts, sourcing candidates, ensuring compliance, and controlling documentation.
- Onboarding: Manage and oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes, including right-to-work checks, security clearance, and exit procedures.
- Metrics and Reporting: Own and develop HR reporting and analytics, providing data on headcount, turnover, absenteeism, and other key HR metrics.
- Office Management: Ensure efficient office management, coordinating suppliers and contracts as needed.
Person Specification:
- Proven experience in similar roles: Preferably in similar industries such as defence, manufacturing or engineering, focused on service delivery and high-performance.
- Innovative and collaborative leader: Adopting a proactive, results-driven approach. Experienced in managing and developing high-performing HR operations teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in HR operations: With a comprehensive understanding of UK employment law and compliance as well as management of SLA’s and KPI’s. Understanding of payroll regulations, benefits, HRIS, data management, and optimisation, utilisation of technology for process improvements. Understanding of Data Protection legislation, its implications, and the need to comply.
- Knowledge of employee lifecycle processes: To enable interpretation of policy and provide guidance.
- Risk Management: Ability to assess and understand underlying risks to delivery and confidence to escalate these in a timely manner.
- Exceptional organisational skills: With the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management: With strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of influencing and collaborating at all levels.
- Excellent MS Office skills: To intermediate level
- Continuous Improvement: Experience of delivering continuous improvement.
