Copello have partnered with an established Defence Engineering business in the recruitment of a Senior Systems Engineer. This role focuses on the design and delivery of advanced systems in areas such as resilient navigation, RF communications and sensor-based technologies used in challenging operational environments.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading system design across the full lifecycle, from early R&D through to deployment and support
- Acting as technical authority on selected projects, guiding architecture, trade-offs and engineering decisions
- Working closely with end users and stakeholders to shape and deliver effective solutions
- Providing technical assurance, managing risk and ensuring quality, performance and delivery targets are met
What we’re looking for:
- A degree in engineering, computer science or a related technical discipline
- Strong systems engineering background with experience leading technically complex projects
- Knowledge of sensor and/or communication systems
- Ability to operate in technically demanding, stakeholder-facing environments
Nice to have:
- Experience with navigation, positioning or timing systems (including resilient or alternative approaches)
- Exposure to RF, EW, DSP, FPGA, SDR or antenna-based systems
- Familiarity with structured development processes (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, SAFe, Spiral)
- Experience identifying and managing technical risks
