Job Description:

The Commercial Director-Gas Analysis role is responsible for driving the growth strategy for the Gas Analysis and Detection business, ensuring revenue, profitability, and market expansion goals are achieved. The position requires close collaboration with the Go-To-Market Organization and World Area teams to champion alignment, strengthen customer engagement, and achieve business objectives. The Director will work cross-functionally with product management, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing to ensure commercial strategies are optimally executed. This role also contributes to crafting the overall strategic vision of the business.

In this role, your responsibilities will be:

Participation on the Leadership team

  • Serve as an active member of the Leadership Team, contributing to strategic decision-making and long-term planning;
  • Lead the development of growth strategies that align with market trends, portfolio priorities, and profitability targets, in line with strategic objectives;
  • Represent the business in executive-level reviews, communicating key initiatives, performance metrics, and strategic direction to Emerson leadership;
  • Collaborate with key Partners to develop and drive the global business strategy for sustained growth and market leadership;

Sales and Business Development

  • Lead the development and execution of global business growth strategies to achieve revenue, unit growth, profitability, and market share objectives;
  • Identify and pursue white space opportunities within the existing product portfolio to expand market reach and drive incremental growth;
  • Analyse and respond to evolving competitive and market dynamics to maintain a strong market position;
  • Support world areas and end users by leading customer care initiatives and addressing critical customer blocking issues;

Channel and Lifecycle Development

  • Improve collaboration with MSS to support project pursuits and capitalize on strategic growth opportunities and partner with World Areas (WAs) to build and maintain a robust global third-party integrator channel aimed at achieving Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEM) market penetration targets;
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve and expand customer lifecycle services, driving long-term engagement and value;

People Management & Other:

  • Develop leadership capabilities within the team by mentoring Team Leaders on effective management, communication, and proactive problem-solving;
  • Support Operations and Finance teams in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to enhance long-term forecasting accuracy;
  • Engage with and guide the group’s New Product Development (NPD) pipeline management processes to align market needs with innovation efforts;
  • Commit to a minimum of % travel, including face-to-face meetings with sales teams and customers, as well as regular visits to Houston and Cumbernauld sites.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or equivalent qualification;
  • Several years of experience in the Process Gas industry and related applications;
  • Proven capability in conducting strategic analysis to advise business decisions;
  • Subject matter expertise in Gas Chromatography and Continuous Gas products;
  • Experience in sales management and leadership roles;
