An engine manufacturer with an exceptional pedigree is seeking an Area Sales Manager for the marine sector. Covering the South and South East of England, you’ll be tasked with maximising sales of marine products and accessories with existing dealers as well as identifying open points and prospecting for new dealers where opportunities arise. The role is field based and will involve considerable travel.

This role would suit someone with excellent relationship building and commercial skills. Ideally you’ll have experience in a similar field based, commercial sales role in either the automotive, marine or similar sector. As well as being highly sales driven, you’ll also need to demonstrate a genuine interest in the marine industry and a willingness to learn about the sector as required. You’ll be working with marine retailers and boat builders on a daily basis and will need to demonstrate the ability to build strong, effective commercial relationships with them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the company with professionalism and integrity
  • Visit dealer network and maintain/strengthen relationships and ensure achievement of sales targets
  • Seek out sales opportunities for marine products
  • Review dealer target achievements
  • Regular reporting on your area and the marine market
  • Visit boat builders and seek out opportunities to grow business
  • Identify open-points and seek out opportunities to recruit new dealers for the brand
  • Attend regular sales meetings

About You

  • A proven track record in a field-based, retailer facing sales role – probably in the automotive, marine or similar industry
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of dealer/retail sales operations
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in and willingness to learn about the marine sector
  • A highly sales/target driven approach with a track record achieving sales targets
  • A self-starter – able to work remotely and organise your time effectively
  • Ability to build strong commercial relationships with marine retailers from senior management down
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong MS Office and presentation skills
  • Experience in regularly reporting on sales activities and your market
  • A full driving license
  • Be located in Southern England and willing to travel on a regular basis
