We’re recruiting a Property Maintenance Assistant to join our Performance Management, Quality and Risk team, working from our Head Office buildings in Bedford, with travel required to support our Operation Centres.
This role is responsible for all property and facilities maintenance across our business. Reporting to the Property & Facilities Manager, they will be responsible for ensuring property and facilities services are provided in an effective and efficient manner across the business.
Responsibilities include:
- Weekly & monthly planned maintenance tasks including but not exclusive to: waste management, flushing of little used outlets/water temperature recording, emergency lighting tests, fire drill test etc.
- First line of response to reactive repairs.
- General building and maintenance duties to include but not exclusive to, decoration, carpentry, plumbing, general groundwork etc
- Proactively monitoring multiple tasks, foreseeing logistic issues, prioritising urgent requests and taking action to ensure we respond to all requests in a timely manner.
- Supporting the Property & Facilities Manager to manage any issues, complaints or disputes that are related to Facilities; helping resolve them quickly and efficiently to ensure we maintain a high-level customer/supplier satisfaction.
- Identifying opportunities that will continuously improve all aspects of Facilities Management operations
- Assisting the Facilities department with office moves and other general adhoc projects.
- General health and safety duties including risk assessments, contractor monitoring and other statutory and not statutory site requirements.
- Assisting with maintaining Copart property to an acceptable condition utilising the approved external cleaning, grounds & waste services and security contractors, ensuring that the sites are fully operational at all times by completing site visits which may on occasion require overnight stays.
- Demonstrating a permanent high level of security awareness and knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures as well as general Health & Safety& EMS issues.

- Full driving licence is essential

- Ability to identify and select correct materials and tools for a job.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a building environment.
- Have a proactive approach to maintenance and building management.
- Confident, driven, proactive with a positive, enthusiastic and ‘can-do’ attitude to work
