We are currently looking for an HGV Fitter to join our team at our Chester Operation Centre, CH5 2QZ. In this role you’ll be responsible for the pre-service and maintenance of Copart UK’s fleet, plant and yard equipment and work on non-running vehicles with the aim of getting them to drive. You’ll ensure that vehicle defects are dealt with in a professional and timely manner, either on site or on the road and in line with current transport legislation, within required deadlines and to the highest standards.

What we need from you:

  • Full driving licence
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-demanding environment
  • Some technical knowledge is required along with practicality, a commitment to health and safety and great attention to detail
  • An excellent understanding of vehicle technology
  • A willingness to develop and learn all aspects of HGV & plant mechanics
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written or spoken instructions
  • The ability to perform work to tight deadlines, independently as well as part of a team
  • An awareness of health and safety standards relating to vehicles
  • Excellent problem-solving and practical skills
  • Experience working on car transporters and hydraulic systems is desirable, but not essential
  • An HGV level 1 or 2 technician qualification is desirable, but not essential
