We’re looking for a detail-driven Payment Administrator to support the processing and auditing of financial transactions in a fast-paced payments environment based at our head office in Bedford, MK44 3JZ. This role is key to maintaining payment integrity, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with internal controls, regulations, and service level agreements. Working closely with Finance, Operations, Customer Service, and external banking partners, you’ll provide high-quality administrative and audit support while contributing to continuous improvement across payment processes.

The salary for this position is £27,976 per annum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit and validate payment and banking transactions for accuracy and compliance
  • Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, exceptions, and failed transactions
  • Maintain accurate records to support audit trails and regulatory requirements
  • Produce timely MI and audit reports for Payments and Finance teams
  • Support payment processing, reconciliations, approvals, and confirmations
  • Liaise with internal teams and external partners on payment queries
  • Manage payments administration, prioritising workloads to meet deadlines
  • Support peak periods and ad-hoc projects as required

Skills & Experience

  • Essential
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with financial data
  • Experience in banking, payments, finance, or audit administration
  • Understanding of payment processes, reconciliations, and financial controls
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Desirable
  • Experience in a regulated financial services environment
  • Familiarity with payment systems, banking platforms, or audit tools
  • Knowledge of compliance, risk, or internal audit principles
