We are currently recruiting for a Roamer/Tramper HGV Driver to join our team, working from our Operation Centre in Wolverhampton, WV5 8AW. Your home location will be Wolverhampton, but you will be required to travel to other operation centres to assist them with holiday cover and increased workload. You will complete 3 to 4 overnights per week, for which you will receive an additional overnight allowance payment.
A Copart Roamer/Tramper HGV Driver collects and delivers predominantly accident damaged vehicles of all shapes, sizes, and conditions on our salvage transporters and therefore the role can be physically demanding. We work on behalf of our insurance and automotive customers to service agreements. Our Drivers carry out internal and external checks on their trucks and equipment and report any defects, photograph any damage, and carry out inspections of all collected and delivered vehicles. Copart Drivers must comply with legal and company requirements of a professional driver and operate the vehicle and loading equipment in a safe and efficient manner, following all H&S policies and procedures.
A reasonable salary expectation based on an average of 7 vehicle collections per day would be approx. £52,516 pa; which includes a Roamer allowance of £3,000 per year. In addition, £45 is payable per night (£30 of which is tax free) for each overnight stay.
What we need from you:
- It's essential that you possess an HGV/LGV Licence C + E
- Current CPC
- A good understanding of the EC Drivers Hours and Working Time regulations using a tachograph
- Driving experience in both rural and urban environments
- Great communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent customer service skills
- Flexibility
- Strong attention to detail
- Confident in the use of handheld devices, with experience in the use of basic IT applications
- Adaptable, with the ability to organise and adjust your working day
- Car transportation or recovery experience would be an advantage, but isn’t essential
