We are recruiting Roamer/Tramper HGV Drivers to join our team, working from the Operations Centre in Corby, NN17 3AS. The role may require you to travel to other operation centres for holiday cover and increased workload, and you will complete 3 to 4 overnights per week with an additional overnight allowance.
Responsibilities
- Collect and deliver predominantly accident‑damaged vehicles of all shapes, sizes, and conditions on salvage transporters.
- Perform internal and external checks on trucks and equipment, report defects, photograph damage, and conduct inspections of all collected and delivered vehicles.
- Operate the vehicle and loading equipment safely and efficiently, following all H&S policies and procedures.
Salary and Allowances
Approx. £52,516 per annum, including a Roamer allowance of £3,000 per year. In addition, £45 is payable per night (£30 of which is tax free) for each overnight stay.
Requirements
- HGV/LGV Licence, Class 1 or Class 2
- Current CPC
- A good understanding of EC Drivers Hours and Working Time regulations and tachograph use
- Driving experience in both rural and urban environments
- Excellent communication, written and verbal, and customer service skills
- Flexibility, strong attention to detail, confidence in handheld devices and basic IT applications
- Ability to organise and adjust your working day
- Car transport or recovery experience is an advantage but not essential
- DBS check and satisfactory references required
