Coopman Search & Selection is partnering with a well-established aircraft leasing company to appoint an experienced Technical Manager (Powerplant). This opportunity is ideally suited to an aviation professional with strong expertise in engine leasing, technical asset management, powerplant engineering, and engine MRO.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing company-owned engine assets, supporting engine transactions, overseeing maintenance activity, and driving asset value optimisation across the engine portfolio.
Working closely with commercial, investment, and technical teams, you will act as a key technical advisor on engine-related matters, helping to maximise portfolio performance and support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage company-owned engine assets across the portfolio.
- Oversee engine shop visits and maintenance activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Conduct technical due diligence assessments for engine acquisitions and transactions.
- Manage engine lease returns and redelivery processes.
- Negotiate MRO agreements and maintenance contracts with external service providers.
- Define, review, and approve engine work scopes.
- Support engine removal planning and maintenance forecasting activities.
- Review engine maintenance invoices and manage maintenance reserve claims.
- Perform engine lifecycle analysis and cost assessments to support asset management decisions.
- Review and assess Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins (SBs).
- Analyse engine trend monitoring data and performance reports.
- Oversee engine MPA runs and BSI inspections, preparing detailed technical reports and recommendations.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and investment materials for internal and external stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
- Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
- 5–10 years' experience within engine leasing, airline MRO, aviation consultancy, or technical asset management environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of aircraft engine maintenance and leasing operations.
- Experience managing engine-related projects, transactions, and technical programmes.
- Proven ability to translate technical engine matters into commercial asset management and leasing decisions.
- Strong understanding of engine shop visits, maintenance forecasting, maintenance reserves, and lifecycle management.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both technical and commercial teams.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, international environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines.
