The predicted salary is between 30000 - 42000 £ per year.
This role will be responsible for a wide variety of operational tasks involving the production and supply of spectacle lenses, and will include computer-based tasks, as well as practical, hands-on tasks using our machinery and checking and packaging our products. This role requires an extremely proactive, positive and flexible approach to work.
Responsibilities
- Conduct stock counts, and report discrepancies.
- Carry out lens re-sleeving activity for orders within UK market.
- Logistics activity such as packing and shipment of goods.
- Facilitate and process frames and lenses for demo products.
- Perform routine equipment cleaning and calibration checks and assist in preventive maintenance scheduling.
- Support lens manufacturing processes, including handling, inspection, labelling, and packaging.
- Conduct periodic maintenance activities on laser systems following work instructions, logging results on asset control software.
- Organize and sort R&D lens sample collection.
- Conduct trials on laser systems following protocols/guidance.
- Conduct measurements of lens features on microscopes.
- Grasp measurement concepts and understand importance of quality measurements.
- Perform basic analysis on measurement results.
- Liaise with other manufacturing sites to organize lens sample deliveries and lens sourcing for trials.
- Organise calibration for production equipment (e.g. power meters).
- Supplier management.
- Purchase order requests.
- Receipt & booking in of orders.
- Shipping items internationally.
- Assist in the set up and validation of laser systems.
- To support / in absence of Customer Service & Supply Chain Manager:
- Monitor and record customer orders - input data into order management systems and ensure accuracy.
- Support order processing: creating invoices, printing documentation, and arranging shipments.
- Coordinate with logistics partners to ensure timely delivery and resolve shipping issues.
- Provide reporting support for order status and inventory.
- Act as a backup manufacturing operator for production days.
Qualifications
- 3+ years' experience working within a busy environment.
- Experience on all MS Office applications, including an excellent working knowledge of MS Excel.
- Analytical skills.
- Previous experience of working within Optics is desirable.
- Previous experience of working within manufacturing is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be a team player with the ability to work cross functionally as an individual contributor in a fast paced, startup environment.
- Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
