To support the day‑to‑day operation and upkeep of company premises, ensuring a safe, clean, and well‑maintained working environment. The role includes a combination of facilities support and basic handyman tasks, assisting with maintenance, repairs, and general site operations in line with UK health and safety standards.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities

  • Facilities Support
    • Assist in the daily running of building facilities across the site(s)
    • Ensure all areas are safe, clean, and fit for purpose
    • Support office moves, room setups, and furniture assembly
    • Monitor and replenish consumables (e.g. kitchen, washroom, and maintenance supplies)
    • Assist with waste management and recycling procedures
  • Maintenance & Handyperson Duties
    • Carry out basic maintenance and minor repairs, including:
    • Painting and decorating
    • Minor plumbing (e.g. fixing leaks, replacing taps)
    • Basic carpentry (e.g. fixing doors, assembling furniture)
    • General repairs and upkeep
    • Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance issues
    • Escalate more complex repairs to specialist contractors where required
  • Health & Safety
    • Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act and company policies
    • Carry out basic checks (e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting, safety equipment)
    • Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly
    • Use appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices
  • Contractor Support
    • Provide access and supervision for contractors on site
    • Ensure work is carried out safely and to required standards
    • Report on completion and any quality or compliance issues
  • Administration
    • Maintain records of maintenance tasks and inspections
    • Assist with logging and tracking jobs via helpdesk or CAFM systems
    • Support stock control of tools, parts, and materials

Experience / Education

  • Five years in relevant activity/discipline
  • Ideally some knowledge of medical device or pharmaceuticals production and facilities.
  • Previous experience in a facilities, maintenance, or handyman role
  • Good practical skills across general building maintenance tasks
  • Basic understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Physically capable of manual work, including lifting and working at height
  • Relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2 in Maintenance / Construction)
  • A recognized Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH/NEBOSH
  • Experience in a commercial property or multi-site environment
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrics, or carpentry
  • Full UK driving license
