Job Summary – What to Expect
As an Autoclave Validation Technician in our Microbiology department, you will provide support for autoclave validation/sterility issues, with responsibility for ensuring all autoclaves are providing sterility for all products within the UK production business units.
Responsibilities:
- Performing autoclave validations in accordance with the company & legislative requirements.
- Assessing and ensuring any routine/non-routine maintenance work performed on the autoclaves is documented and does not invalidate prior validations performed.
- Manual handling of test loads and validation equipment; organising test loads and validation equipment to the required site.
- Ensuring all sterilisation processes are suitable by performing qualifications and re-qualifications at specified intervals to confirm suitability (including completion of validations and preparation of validation documentation).
- Maintaining conditions and routine control for all UK sterilisation processes in accordance with our product release requirements.
- Liaising with other departments to assist and guide in cGMP, and parametric release.
- Interpreting and presenting data and reports to the company in a concise and informative style.
- Training company-wide in sterilisation & any associated subjects.
- Supporting the microbiology department and carrying out any other duties or responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Scientist/Senior Scientist-Microbiology.

Experience & Education Required:
- Competent in use of basic computer packages e.g. Word, Excel, and e‑mail.
- Relevant experience would be an advantage but not essential.
- Formal qualifications are not essential but an HND in a science/engineering discipline would be helpful.
Preferred:
- Knowledge in performing Autoclave validations would be desirable but not essential.
- Experience in working in a Medical Device Industry setting would be desirable but not essential.

Work Environment:
This post involves working within Manufacturing environments, wearing appropriate clothing dependent on area. The post involves working in an office and laboratory environment, wearing a lab coat and protective gloves when handling waste. This role will require manual handling of test loads and validation equipment, and organising test loads and validation equipment to the required site.
Travel Requirements:
You will need to travel to our Chandlers Ford sites approximately once a month.
