Job Summary
The role will progress towards the position of Production Engineer through experience, on the job training and academic achievement. Predominantly the role will carry out tasks including assisting / organising and executing complimentary validation and verification activities in accordance with medical device regulatory requirements – appraising, specifying and developing automated systems and production processes used in contact lens packaging and distribution – participating in multidisciplinary teams engaged in above activities.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities
- To develop the knowledge to provide technical expertise, production and project support to Packaging and Distribution departments and the rest of the Engineering and Maintenance group at Mountpark and Delta Park.
- Plan, organise and execute complimentary validation and verification activities in accordance with medical device regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the appraisal, specification, development, commissioning and testing of new and existing Packaging and Distribution automated systems and equipment.
- Participate in equipment & process safety compliance assessments, appraisals, capability studies and validation / verifications programmes in accordance with medical device regulatory requirements.
- Report results against objectives, including design / milestone reviews, presentations, monthly reports and key performance indicator monitoring.
- Assist in implementing process improvements, including optimisation of productivity, yield and quality, in line with change control requirements.
- Conduct validation testing on new and existing production automated systems and equipment and complete Validation documentation.
- Conduct material / equipment testing and generate Engineering Studies.
- Able to contribute effectively in a multi-discipline environment providing good quality communication across whole business.
- May get involved in working on some international activities, across the business and participating in technical forum activities occasionally.
- Assist investigations for QFB, NCR & CAPA across Production Engineering, Maintenance, Packaging & Distribution.
- Able to analyse and review data to establish equipment performance trends, reject rates and expected throughputs.
- Collate and present analysis / trend findings with cost justification for process or equipment improvements.
- Assist with implementing process improvements using controlled methods and associated documentation.
- Complete other related duties connected with the Company’s business priorities.

Experience
- Ability to learn procedures and processes quickly, able to listen to others and understand their requirements.
- The role is part of a support function requiring a high level of collaborative dialogue with Packaging & Distribution staff, respective Management and other support Teams.
- Possesses and is developing good Project Engineering skills.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- A recognised level of practical engineering competency would be advantageous or equivalent by experience.
