Warehouse/Inventory Operator Level 1 – Part time

Department: Distribution

Location: Delta Park, Fareham

Working Hours: Mon – Wed, 22.5 hours per week (Shifts)

Job summary – What to expect:

  • The Operator is responsible for carrying out assigned tasks in line with company procedures, work instructions, and systems, primarily focusing on a small range of basic warehouse processes such as picking, packing, scanning, receiving, replenishment, and stock counting.
  • Carrying out the functions in their assigned area of work in accordance with company procedures, work instructions and systems.
  • Operator usually only focuses on basic processes (limited in number) which could include Picking, Pack station Scanning, Pre-Sort, Machine Over labelling, fitting set production, receiving, put away, replenishment, assist re-work and cycle counting.
  • Operator works under tight instructions and supervision of a trainer, a more senior operator, or a supervisor.
  • Operator complies with health and safety regulations including the safe use of equipment (i.e. machinery, truck, manual handling equipment) and general good housekeeping to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Operator correctly applies the different company systems in a very specific defined area.
  • Suggests small or limited continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Limited involvement in investigating and resolving issues in an assigned area, communicating where necessary any relevant information to the Team Leader or Senior Operator to ensure minimum disruption and maximum service levels.

About you:

  • No prior experience as DC operator or has a basic knowledge of a limited number of processes.
  • Good learning skills.
  • Team player with good social skills.
  • Understands and respects safety rules and the code of conduct.

Experience & Education:

  • The post holder's working environment is a large open plan warehouse / factory building.
  • All necessary personal protective equipment must be worn along with the use of the correct manual handling equipment and operating techniques.
  • As well as some lifting the majority of products are transported throughout the building on movable cages which can also be heavy. Lifting up to approx. 25 kg.
  • Working at heights required.
  • There is constant background noise from the operation of various machinery.
  • Temperatures in the warehouse fluctuate due to seasonal variations.
  • Periods of prolonged standing.
  • Good Standard of English and Maths.

Please note that this is a part-time job share role, working Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday only. These working days are fixed and non-negotiable due to the nature of the job share arrangement. The position operates on a rotating shift pattern, with alternate early and late shifts. Early shifts 5:45am to 1:45pm, late shifts 2:00pm to 10:00pm.
