The EMEA Financial Accounting Manager is a key management position reporting into the EMEA Finance Controller for CooperSurgical (CSI) and helping maintain a secure & robust financial reporting framework through the markets it supports. In partnership with the wider GBS teams & Country Managers, the Global Controllership organization, Regional Finance leadership and Internal Audit, this role is instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the Financial Reporting framework.

This position works to improve understanding between the different parts of the Finance organisation, particularly the GBS and the activity in the field. The role will manage, oversee and be the main point of contact for the Accounting, Financial Reporting and audit (both internal and external) for a number of EMEA CSI’s entities in the GBS and directly manage a team of 2-4 accountants.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

  • Drive an efficient and timely Financial Reporting close process for assigned entities in EMEA.
  • Working with EMEA Finance Controller and Operational Finance to ensure the financial reporting submissions and deliverables meet expectations.
  • Responsible for the accurate reporting and guidance around Revenue Recognition and sales & marketing incentives, as well as internal Transfer pricing.
  • Ensure the financial reporting of the P&L and Balance Sheet are in alignment with US GAAP, the internal controls framework and corporate policies.
  • Support the EMEA Finance Controller with a continuous improvement mindset to challenge current processes with a view to increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the end-to-end processes.
  • Drive support to the FP&A function in building out legal entity budgets and forecasts and provide relevant data for the preparation of cashflow forecasts.
  • Working relationship with Internal and External Audit to support and facilitate SOX, quarterly reviews, and year-end audits, and ensuring the documentation of financial processes are reviewed on an agreed periodic basis.
  • Support for any ERP systems development across different markets, with a focus on Record-To-Report management process.
  • Leading a team of direct professional staff, supporting them with technical reporting, accounting, and policy issues.
  • Drive organization improvements to develop a high performing team, working with direct and indirect staff to ensure that adequate development plans are in place so that the organization creates and grows a bench of high performing finance and accounting talent.
  • Finance point of contact to assigned entities for the accounting treatment of commercial business initiatives.
  • Active working relationship with the TCC Transactional Services Manager and TCC Fixed Asset and Leasing Finance team to collaborate and ensure the seamless performance of activities carried out for CSI.

Experience and Education:

  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural, international Finance Shared Service Centre role.
  • Will have managed a financial accounting and reporting team.
  • Broad knowledge of all finance areas including financial systems and applications.
  • Experience gained in a Global/US matrix managed business is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge and application of US GAAP.
  • Educated to degree (ideally Accounting / Finance) level or equivalent. Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 3+ years post qualified experience.
  • IT proficient in MS Office and ERPs (including Excel, Word, Navision, Dynamics 365 and HFM).
  • Good communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to operate on a tactical level with a good understanding of strategy, balancing today’s needs of the organization with the longer-term direction and enhancements of a global organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence and work collaboratively with all key business stakeholders (internal & external), including Commercial and Finance Leadership teams to achieve improved business outcomes.
  • Management experience to lead, motivate and develop a professional team.
  • Ability to facilitate forums and workshops to achieve required outcomes.
  • Strong track record of participation in a multi-cultural, multi-linguistic operating environment, with excellent communication skills to ensure understanding of the finance activities at all levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze situations, resolve problems, identify causes, and anticipate implications.
  • A working experience in US GAAP accounting & reporting would be viewed positively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative.
