What will you be doing:

  • Working with the Packaging Team Leader, the Senior Despatch Operator will provide control of the Mountpark Despatch area and ensure customer requirements, production performance targets, quality standards, and ship days are met and where possible exceeded.
  • Carry out tasks and operate any required machines and processes associated with the smooth running of the despatch area as requested by the Packaging Team Leader.
  • Support the Packaging Team Leader as point of contact for Goods Out Mountpark liaising with packaging, distribution, customer service and export shipping.
  • Prioritize workload to meet customer demand and satisfaction.
  • Provide support to the Packaging Team Leader through feedback on work levels and despatch issues on a regular basis.
  • Investigate and respond to problematic shipments and operational issues communicating with all necessary departments to ensure minimum disruption.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations within the team and the environment ensuring safe practice regarding use of equipment and general good housekeeping.
  • Support the Packaging Team Leader to investigate and respond to any enquiries received from other departments.
  • Use of systems appropriate to your department, including JDA, Baan, GPSII, Microsoft Office and shipping systems.
  • Receive any new training and train other operators as required.
  • Completion of relevant shipping documentation.
  • Ensure month end controls are adhered to within the Goods Out Mount Park area.
  • Be aware of and contribute to continuous improvement projects as appropriate.
  • Be prepared to work in other areas of operations for specified periods as required.
  • Ensure security is maintained within the despatch area.
  • Loading and unloading of vehicles using appropriate equipment within Health and Safety guidelines.

In the absence of a Packaging Team Leader, you may be asked to carry out the following duties:

  • Ensuring the departmental Service levels are maintained and where possible exceeded.
  • Investigate and respond to problems in relation to Despatch communicating any issues to your Section Leader.
  • Understanding of all relevant Health & Safety and GMP procedures to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
  • Provide input and deliver team briefs to shift, cascading company and departmental information.
  • Prioritize workload to meet customer demand and satisfaction.
  • The post holder can decide the allocation of staff to various tasks.
  • Liaison with the Section Leader on the allocation of staff to various tasks.
  • Managing the daily workflow within the Goods Out Mountpark warehouse ensuring vehicles picking up are loaded on time in full.

Work Environment:

The post holders working environment is a large open plan warehouse / factory building. All necessary personal protective equipment must be worn along with the use of the correct manual handling equipment and operating techniques. There may be some working at heights required. There is constant background noise from the operation of various packaging machinery. Temperatures in the warehouse fluctuate due to seasonal variations.

  • Enthusiastic and flexible, a Team Player, also able to work alone as well as within a team, with excellent inter-personal skills.
  • Good standard of education including English and Maths.
  • Working Knowledge of the company’s WMS (JDA) and Baan.
  • Good working knowledge of the company’s distribution and Goods Out environment.
  • Able to use own initiative and make decisions.
  • Basic understanding of the equipment relevant to the specified area.
  • Knowledge of Export Shipping requirements.
  • Experience of working in a similar Goods Out / Mail Desk area.
