A leading international business with a high-performing, first-class tax team is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to cover a 12-18 month maternity leave contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional available at relatively short notice, with the flexibility to work hybrid or fully remote.
Opportunity
You will manage and oversee the business unit's UK direct and indirect tax reporting, compliance and advisory requirements, ensuring high-quality delivery across statutory reporting, filings, and tax governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of all UK direct and indirect tax reporting and filings
- Review of UK corporation tax returns and related submissions (including iXBRL)
- Preparation of the UK Corporate Interest Restriction (CIR) return
- VAT return review and submission
- Tax accounting and reporting (actuals/forecast tax packs), balance sheet reconciliations and cash tax forecasting
- Tax disclosures and schedules for legal entity financial statements
- Assurance of compliance across non-UK jurisdictions
- Support audit processes, SAO compliance, PSA and IR35 requirements
- Country-by-Country Reporting and support on BEPS Pillar 2 data and returns
- Advisory support across indirect and employment tax matters, tenders, transfer pricing and R&D
- Maintain tax tracker, risk register and support ad-hoc tax projects and tax authority queries
Background and Experience
- Professionally qualified: ICAS / ACCA / CTA / ATT (or equivalent)
- Strong general UK tax knowledge (corporation tax, VAT, employment tax)
- Significant tax experience in practice or industry (oil & gas services experience desirable)
- Good working knowledge of IFRS
- Confident stakeholder management skills across Finance, HR and Commercial teams
- Tax software experience (e.g., Alphatax or similar)
- Strong Excel, analytical and report-writing skills
- Oracle / TRCS experience preferred (training available)
