About the role...

Are you a pragmatic, delivery-focused Salesforce specialist looking for your next challenge? Are you detail-orientated without losing sight of the bigger picture? Are you able to engage with, and constructively challenge, both business and technical audiences to improve standards and build sustainable solutions? We are looking for a Salesforce Solution Architect to support the design and delivery of scalable, secure and well-architected Salesforce solutions across the business. This role would suit someone with strong hands-on Salesforce experience who is ready to take ownership of solution design for projects and workstreams, while collaborating closely with Enterprise Architecture, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, Admins and third-party partners. We need someone who is able to translate business requirements into practical Salesforce designs, make sensible architectural decisions, and ensure solutions are built in a way that is maintainable, secure and aligned to wider technology standards.

You’ll be involved in a broad range of tasks and responsibilities, including:

  • Leading solution design for Salesforce changes, projects and enhancements
  • Translating business requirements into Salesforce solution designs, user stories and technical guidance
  • Producing design documentation, including process flows, data models, integration views and solution options
  • Working with stakeholders to understand business problems and recommend suitable Salesforce-based solutions
  • Supporting decisions around declarative configuration, custom development, integrations and data design
  • Ensuring solutions follow Salesforce best practice, security principles and internal architecture standards
  • Working closely with Developers and Admins to ensure designs are implemented correctly
  • Reviewing proposed solutions and challenge designs where they may introduce unnecessary complexity or technical debt
  • Supporting estimation, impact assessment and delivery planning
  • Contributing to governance forums, design reviews and architecture discussions
  • Helping to identify opportunities to simplify, consolidate or improve the Salesforce estate

About you...

At Cooper Parry, we’re in it together. All we ask of our people is that they play all in. You’ll continuously strive to keep learning – whether you’re a trainee or a Partner – and you’ll be brave, stepping out of your comfort zone to tackle new challenges. Above all, be nice. A simple notion, but an irreplaceable part of what makes CP, CP. In addition to those core values, as a Salesforce Solution Architect you should also have:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Salesforce configuration and platform capabilities
  • Experience designing Salesforce solutions across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud or Experience Cloud
  • Good understanding of Salesforce security, sharing, roles, profiles, permission sets and data access
  • Experience working with Flows, validation rules, approval processes and automation design
  • Understanding of Apex, Lightning Web Components and Salesforce development concepts, even if not primarily a developer
  • Experience working with integrations, APIs and data migration concepts
  • Ability to produce clear solution documentation and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Confidence working with Business Analysts, Developers, Testers and business stakeholders
  • Good understanding of delivery lifecycle, release management and change control
  • Ability to balance best practice with pragmatic delivery
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with wider teams

It would also be handy (but not essential) to have:

  • Salesforce certifications such as Platform App Builder, Administrator, Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud Consultant or Application Architect credentials
  • Experience with Financial Services Cloud, Certinia, Data Cloud or Experience Cloud
  • Awareness of enterprise architecture, integration patterns and data governance
  • Experience working in a consultancy, professional services or regulated environment

How to prepare for a job interview at Cooper Parry

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
