We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing accurate and timely cost information to support key business decisions within a manufacturing environment. This position requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, cost accounting principles, and SAP experience.

Responsibilities

  • Product Costing: Develop and maintain accurate standard costs for all manufactured products, including raw materials, direct labour, and manufacturing overhead. Perform variance analysis, investigate significant deviations from standard costs, and identify root cause. Prepare and analyse monthly product cost reports for management review. Participate in the annual standard cost setting process.
  • Inventory Accounting: Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies. Assist with month-end closing procedures, including journal entries and reconciliations related to inventory.
  • Manufacturing Overhead Analysis: Analyse and allocate manufacturing overhead costs to products accurately. Monitor and control manufacturing overhead variances. Assist with the development and implementation of cost reduction initiatives.

Prerequisites

  • CIMA qualified
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing cost accounting role
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost accounting principles
  • Proven experience with SAP in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with ERP systems other than SAP
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence tools

SAP Experience

  • Proficient in utilising SAP for all aspects of cost accounting, including cost centre accounting, material master data maintenance, order costing, and variance analysis.
  • Maintain and update SAP master data as required.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SAP related issues within the cost accounting area.

Process Improvement

  • Continuously review and improve cost accounting processes and procedures.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy within the cost accounting function.
  • Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and best practices.

Ad-hoc Analysis and Reporting

  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses as requested by management.
  • Support other departments with cost-related information and analysis.
