About the role... Looking to start your Tax career in 2026? Do you have a love of numbers, analytics and problem solving? Do you love building relationships? Our Tax team is based at our Dungannon office. As a Tax Trainee, you will assist small teams to really understand our clients and what they want to achieve and advise them on how to get there. Role to start June 2026 onwards.
About you... Here at Cooper Parry, we’re in it together. All we ask of our people is that they play all in, continuously strive to keep learning – whether they are a trainee or a Partner – and be brave, willing to step out of their comfort zone and tackle new challenges. And above all of that, be nice! Studying for a professional qualification and working is not an easy pathway. You will need to be committed and have amazing project management skills to balance studies and the day job. You need to be curious about companies and see our work as part of their success.
Our minimum requirement would be a completed degree (or in your final year) and having gained a minimum of 3 A Levels or equivalent with grades BBC (with a minimum of one A Level in numerical or business-related subjects). At Cooper Parry we are mindful of candidates who may have extenuating circumstances whilst completing their education and did not meet the minimum academic requirements. We would be open to discuss and explore the pathway that matches you the best and welcome you to apply for the role, but please notify us of your extenuating circumstances that affected your results.
So, we look for people who...
- Have great attention to detail, with a passion for numbers and a knack for following processes
- Possess great communication skills, can build rapport and are comfortable approaching clients
- Ask questions and deliver a brilliant client experience
- Can adapt to changing priorities and work in different teams
- Able to multitask - processing data, chasing information and prioritising your own workload
- Play all in to support the wider team
- Are excited about Tax and driven to succeed in the role and qualification
About the day to day... Turning complex jargon into simple terms and actions for our brilliant clients. Making sure our clients are compliant by preparing and submitting their tax returns. Liaising with HMRC around tax returns and gaining tax reliefs. Generating new ideas, solutions and spotting opportunities to enhance our client offering. Keeping up to date with changes to legislation and the impact they may have on our clients. Alongside the day-to-day, you will also study for your ACA/CTA or ATT/CTA Qualification through attending college courses and on the job training. The pathway to qualification takes around 3 years if you’re a Graduate and you’ll be supported along the way by your colleagues, Managers and our dedicated Student Support Manager.
About us... We’re no ordinary firm of accountants and business advisers. And this means we don’t give ordinary advice. We’re straight-talking. We have an opinion. We put people and relationships before products and services, and deliver a streamlined, client-focused service – free from unnecessary red tape. That’s how we’ve become the fastest growing accountancy firm in the UK – and we won’t be resting on our laurels.
What’s in it for you... Our people are the beating heart of our culture. We know that if you love working here, and you’re given the trust and autonomy to work in a way that best suits you, you’ll produce amazing results. That’s why we offer things like:
- A flexible approach to work - balancing working from home, in office or with clients
- A generous holiday entitlement
- An enhanced parental leave policy
- No dress code – just “wear something!”
- A multi-award-winning wellbeing offering to support your physical, mental, spiritual, and financial health
- Volunteering opportunities to work closer with local communities and charities
