Our client is seeking a highly motivated, Senior Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join their growing finance team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing accurate and timely cost information to support key business decisions within our manufacturing environment. This position requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, cost accounting principles, and SAP experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain accurate standard costs for all manufactured products, including raw materials, direct labour, and manufacturing overhead.
- Perform variance analysis, investigate significant deviations from standard costs, and identify root causes.
- Prepare and analyse monthly product cost reports for management review.
- Participate in the annual standard cost setting process.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures, including journal entries and reconciliations related to inventory.
- Analyse and allocate manufacturing overhead costs to products accurately.
- Monitor and control manufacturing overhead variances.
- Assist with the development and implementation of cost reduction initiatives.
- Proficient in utilising SAP for all aspects of cost accounting, including cost centre accounting, material master data maintenance, order costing, and variance analysis.
- Maintain and update SAP master data as required.
- Troubleshoot and resolve SAP related issues within the cost accounting area.
- Continuously review and improve cost accounting processes and procedures.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy within the cost accounting function.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses as requested by management.
- Support other departments with cost-related information and analysis.
Background and Expertise Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing cost accounting role.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost accounting principles.
- Proven experience with SAP in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with ERP systems other than SAP.
- Experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
- Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence tools.
Hours β (Flexible) Mon β Fri - 37Β½ hours per week
