Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment have been engaged by a Public Sector Body, to recruit an experienced senior Finance professional into the role of Finance Business Partner.This role is a 6-month fixed term contract commencing ASAP. Please note, there may be an option for extension or permanent, however, this cannot be guaranteed at this stage.
Role Summary
The Finance Business Partner will play a key role in supporting organisational performance through the provision of high-quality financial analysis, reporting, budgeting and forecasting. Working closely with the Strategic Finance Manager and senior stakeholders, the postholder will provide expert financial advice, challenge and support decision-making, ensuring resources are managed effectively and strategic objectives are achieved. The role also contributes to financial reporting compliance, continuous improvement initiatives and the development of financial capability across the organisation through strong stakeholder engagement and business partnering.
Key Role Responsibilities
- Act as the primary financial advisor to operational and leadership teams, providing expert insight into financial performance and supporting informed decision-making.
- Produce and present high-quality management information, including budget monitoring, forecasting, variance analysis and performance reporting.
- Support the preparation and management of annual budgets, working closely with budget holders to achieve financial and operational objectives.
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports to support effective business planning and control.
- Assist with year-end financial reporting and statutory accounts preparation, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and reconciliation requirements.
- Maintain fixed asset records and ensure accuracy between financial systems and statutory reporting.
- Coordinate financial reporting and annual charge reviews for stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and transparency.
- Deliver financial training, coaching and guidance to managers and non-finance colleagues to strengthen financial awareness across the organisation.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of financial reporting processes, systems and controls.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, supporting collaborative working and the achievement of strategic business objectives.
Key Skills & Experience
- Qualified or Part-Qualified ICAS/ACCA/CIMA or Equivalent
- Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Excellent analytical and financial reporting skills.
- Advanced Excel & MS packages
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-finance audiences.
- Proven stakeholder management and business partnering capability.
- Experience supporting organisational performance through sound financial advice and insight.
