Function: Finance / Group Financial Control

Job Type: Permanent

Level: Management / Senior Professional

About the Role

Our client is undertaking a significant Finance Transformation programme designed to modernise and enhance its finance operating model, processes, systems and controls.

As Record to Report Workstream Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the design and delivery of the future Record to Report (R2R) operating model. Working closely with the R2R Workstream Lead, you will help drive improvements across the full R2R lifecycle, ensuring processes are standardised, well controlled, efficient and capable of delivering high-quality financial information.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with strong Record to Report expertise who enjoys working in transformation, process improvement and ERP-enabled change environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and implementation of the target operating model for Record to Report, establishing clear process ownership, standardised processes and effective governance.
  • Coordinate improvements to the period-end close, including close calendars, dependencies, hand-offs, governance and escalation processes.
  • Develop and enhance journal governance, including journal categories, approval requirements, supporting documentation and control standards.
  • Drive standardisation of balance sheet reconciliation processes, including ownership, review requirements, ageing and issue resolution.
  • Support process design and continuous improvement across intercompany, fixed assets, accruals and prepayments, consolidation and financial reporting.
  • Help develop consistent statutory and management reporting processes, ensuring clear requirements, ownership, data inputs and reporting timetables.
  • Work closely with Finance Controls, Policy and other stakeholders to ensure processes incorporate appropriate controls, compliance requirements, segregation of duties and audit considerations.
  • Act as a Record to Report subject matter expert within the wider finance transformation and ERP implementation programme.
  • Translate business and finance requirements into effective process, system, data and reporting requirements, ensuring these are reflected in solution design and delivery.
  • Identify and manage dependencies across R2R and related areas including master data, source systems, tax, treasury and business-unit finance teams.
  • Use data, activity analysis and other diagnostic tools to identify inefficiencies, quantify improvement opportunities and support prioritisation.
  • Develop and monitor R2R performance measures and KPIs, covering areas such as close performance, reconciliation completion, journal quality, reporting timeliness and control adherence.
  • Support change management, communications and stakeholder engagement to ensure successful adoption of new processes, systems and controls.
  • Coordinate multiple workstreams, manage dependencies and ensure key deliverables remain on track within a fast-moving transformation environment.

About You

You will be an experienced finance professional with a strong understanding of end-to-end Record to Report processes and a track record of delivering or supporting finance transformation and process improvement.

You will ideally bring:

  • Strong practical experience across R2R, including month-end/period-end close, journals, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany, fixed assets, consolidation and financial reporting.
  • Experience working within a finance transformation, process redesign, continuous improvement or shared services environment.
  • A good understanding of financial controls, governance, compliance and audit requirements.
  • Experience working with ERP-enabled finance transformation, with the ability to translate business requirements into system, data, reporting and process requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and insight to identify issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to work across Finance, Technology, Programme and operational teams.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, dependencies and deadlines.
  • A proactive, delivery-focused approach and the ability to operate effectively in a complex transformation environment.
  • The ability to challenge existing processes constructively and identify opportunities for standardisation, simplification, automation and improved control.

What You'll Be Doing

This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Process and Transformation. You will help shape how R2R operates in the future while also supporting the practical delivery of those changes.

You will have the opportunity to influence processes across a broad finance landscape, work with senior stakeholders and contribute to a major transformation programme that will have a lasting impact on the organisation's finance function.

If you are an R2R professional who is ready to move beyond operational finance and play a key role in designing and delivering a future-state finance function, this could be an excellent opportunity.
