Cooper Parry is delighted to support our key client in recruiting an Assistant Accountant. You will join a thriving team, where the manager is hands-on, very approachable, and always ready to pass on his knowledge and skills. You will therefore have a great opportunity within the role to further develop your skills. Whilst this role is a contract, our client has enjoyed progressive success over the last few years and there should be ample opportunity to apply for permanent posts at the end of the contract.
About the Role
- Prepare and post monthly journals including payroll postings, accruals and prepayments, and specific cost adjustments
- Produce payroll reconciliations
- Trend analysis and comparison against plan & prior year before month-end close
- Support specific group-related accounting matters where applicable
- Assist in the monthly variance analysis and commentary production providing insightful analysis
- Develop a good understanding of the business revenue streams
- Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
- Proactively work with relevant stakeholders to ensure all outstanding balances are followed up with clear notes, timelines, and actions for resolution
- Assist with the production of the monthly Risks and Opportunities schedule
- Produce clear audit trails in own work to meet required internal standards
- Understand accounting procedures and processes and be able to discuss potential impact with other areas of the business
Qualifications
You will have a background in finance, a great eye for detail, and enjoy analysis and reconciliations. You will thrive in working in a busy, changeable environment. A good understanding of systems and Excel are important.
