Position: Technical Lead (Lead Developer - Analytics & Reporting)

Location: 2 Days on site / 3 days hybrid

Type: Full-time

Start Date: Immediate

Salary: Competitive

We are seeking a Technical Lead (Lead Developer) with strong analytics and reporting expertise to lead the delivery of high-quality, insight-driven reporting on a large-scale, complex infrastructure programme within the energy sector, working as part of a consultancy team embedded within a client environment. This role goes beyond producing metrics. The successful candidate will understand the “so what” behind the data, ensuring that analytics and reporting genuinely support decision-making. You will lead a small team of developers, drive technical delivery forward, and work closely with reporting and business stakeholders to deliver meaningful, trusted outputs.

About us: CMR is an award-winning project controls consultancy that is first and foremost a team of people, passionate about the construction industry and changing the way project controls is provided. Our approach and culture have been recognised globally, with CMR named Global Project Controls Small Business of the Year 2025 (Project Controls Expo UK Awards) and one of the UK’s Best Workplaces in 2026 (Great Place to Work).

Our Purpose (Why we exist): Inspiring new ways to help shape our construction industry.

Our Ambition (What we want to achieve): Re-imagine project controls through a digital lens, being the obvious choice for clients and the place to grow together with intention.

What’s in it for you?

  • At CMR you will have the opportunity to professionally develop like nowhere you have worked before.
  • If you demonstrate the capability, our merit-based system will enable you to develop fast.
  • We use our in-house capability matrix to transparently track your progression and highlight development areas.
  • Join our small, dynamic team where every member has the chance to make a significant impact, shaping the future direction of our company and making a real difference.
  • We believe in rewarding our team for their achievements, celebrating our successes but equally helping each other when things are tough.

You’ll:

  • Provide technical leadership across analytics and reporting solutions, ensuring outputs are useful, relevant, and aligned to business needs.
  • Translate business and reporting requirements into clear technical solutions, always challenging whether metrics and measures add real value.
  • Drive an assigned reporting or analytics area forward, setting direction and standards for development.
  • Lead and manage a small team of developers, providing direction, support, and quality assurance.
  • Plan and prioritise development activities to meet agreed milestones and reporting cycles.
  • Review outputs to ensure they meet agreed standards for quality, performance, and usability.
  • Apply a strong understanding of end-to-end reporting, from data capture and governance through to reporting and analytics outputs.
  • Ensure appropriate data controls, validation, and traceability are built into solutions.
  • Work closely with reporting leads and data owners to ensure consistent definitions and trusted data.
  • Operate confidently in a client-facing consultancy role, engaging with business, delivery, and technical stakeholders.
  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical audiences, clearly explaining technical concepts and trade-offs.
  • Support senior stakeholders by providing insight, context, and narrative behind analytics outputs.
  • Take a solutions-driven approach to challenges, proposing pragmatic improvements rather than over-engineered solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, analytics, or development practices within the client’s environment.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytics and reporting capability across the programme.

We’re looking for:

  • Strong experience as a Technical Lead or Senior Developer delivering analytics and reporting solutions.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver insight-led analytics, not just metrics and dashboards.
  • Experience leading or mentoring developers and managing day-to-day technical delivery.
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end reporting processes, including data capture, governance, validation, and reporting outputs.
  • Comfortable working in large, complex, and regulated programme environments.

At CMR we have a strong culture driven by our 9 Core Principles. We look to build a community of people that share our values and ambitions. We’re proud that 96% of our team say CMR is a “Great Place to Work”, a reflection of our supportive culture, focus on people, and drive to do things differently.
