At Cooper Moss Rutland (CMR), we are a leading construction consultancy delivering project controls, project management and commercial services across some of the UK's most complex and high-profile programmes. We are looking for a BI Developer to join our growing Project Controls team, supporting the delivery of major capital programmes within the UK infrastructure and energy sectors.

Working within a central Project Controls function, you will support the development, maintenance and enhancement of Business Intelligence solutions that provide valuable insight into project performance across cost, schedule and programme controls. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career BI professional looking to develop their technical capability while working alongside experienced Project Controls specialists on nationally significant programmes.

About the Role

You'll work as part of a collaborative central team, developing dashboards, reports and data visualisations that enable project teams and senior stakeholders to make informed decisions. The role offers exposure to complex project controls data and the opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting, automation and business intelligence across major construction programmes.

You’ll

  • Develop, maintain and improve Business Intelligence dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Create clear, engaging data visualisations that support project performance reporting.
  • Work with Project Controls teams to understand reporting requirements across cost, schedule and performance.
  • Analyse project data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Support the automation of reporting processes and improve data efficiency.
  • Collaborate with planners, cost engineers, project managers and client stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely reporting.
  • Assist with data validation, cleansing and quality assurance activities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting standards, data governance and Business Intelligence capabilities.
  • Support the wider Project Controls function with ad hoc analysis and reporting requirements.

We're looking for

Essential

  • Experience in a Business Intelligence, Data Analytics or Reporting role.
  • Experience developing dashboards using Power BI.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with structured datasets.
  • Good understanding of data modelling and reporting best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present data clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

  • Experience working within Project Controls, Cost Management or Planning environments.
  • Experience within construction, infrastructure, energy, nuclear or engineering sectors.
  • Previous experience working within a consultancy or client-facing environment.
  • Knowledge of project controls data, earned value management or programme performance reporting.
  • Experience with Power Query, DAX and data transformation techniques.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, EcoSys, Oracle, SAP or other project controls systems.
