Cooper Lomaz is pleased to be working with a highly specialised manufacturing business with a global footprint, currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their close-knit and growing site team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a company whose chemical products play a critical role in the production of life‑saving medicines and advanced technology.
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Lead, you will be a key contributor to the safe, efficient and continuous operation of the production facility, operating to the highest standards of quality, health & safety, and environmental compliance.
The Role
As Maintenance Engineer, you will provide hands‑on technical support across the site, ensuring plant and equipment reliability while supporting both routine and reactive maintenance activities. You will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers, contributing to a collaborative and safety‑first culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, servicing and associated administrative tasks
- Support the Maintenance Lead with fault finding, troubleshooting and problem solving
- Ensure a safe working environment through task‑based risk assessments and adherence to company H&S procedures
- Work collaboratively with other departments to align priorities and meet operational demands
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure maintenance requirements are clearly communicated and delivered on time
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues and external partners
- Undertake additional duties as required to support site and business needs
About You
You will be a practical, safety‑conscious engineer who enjoys working as part of a small team and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
Essential
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English
- Comfortable using computers for maintenance records and administration
- Awareness of working with hazardous chemicals and materials
- Understanding of relevant health & safety regulations, including working at height and in hazardous or explosive environments
- Basic tool craft skills, including grinding and welding
- Strong communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills
Please note - the role can involve being getting dirty in a strong-smelling environment.
Desirable
- Experience in a maintenance role within a chemical or hazardous environment
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings (electrical/building plans)
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
