Key in providing a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with all applicable Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety legislations. This role is an ideal step-up role for a previous QHSE Advisor or similar. The role will also involve assisting the factory and farm teams and managers by recognising hazards and seeking to minimise risks whilst creating, maintaining, and improving the health, safety & environmental standards. You will champion HSE and food safety/quality/legality initiatives in the workplace whilst ensuring that legislation is adhered to.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Health and Safety and Environmental processes, risk assessments and systems and ensure that they are operated correctly.
  • Lead with External H&S and Environmental Agencies and assist with retail customers and QMS audits.
  • Lead in the development and maintenance of H&S and Environmental policy and procedures.
  • Work with the Senior Management Team to develop H&S and Environmental KPIs for the business.
  • Provide consistent and accurate HSE advice to employees and the business.
  • Produce business QHSE statistics monthly, identify trends and take proactive initiatives.
  • Deliver H&S new starter inductions and other H&S training as required.
  • Deliver the monthly H&S Safety Committee Meeting presentation and minutes.
  • Developing excellent professional relationships with managers and staff to ensure responsibilities are clear.
  • Acting as a key point of contact, working with them, understanding their challenges, supporting and advising them, helping to identify solutions, and answering health and safety related enquiries to ensure they have robust health and safety arrangements in place.
  • Schedule and conduct audits, inspections, and accident investigations.
  • Constantly seeking areas for improvement and development in health and safety performance.
  • Producing written reports with an action plan so that required improvements can be monitored and made.
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
  • Support in effective audit and delivery of Food Safety QMS.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-confident, personable individual capable of building strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent desirable although training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Internal Audit qualification desired.

Experience:

  • HSE in the manufacturing industry.
  • Delivering training.
  • Undertaking risk/COSHH/PUWER assessments.
  • IT packages such as MS Office.
