We are seeking a proactive and skilled Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the smooth operation of our highly automated production environment. You will play a key role in responding to equipment breakdowns, delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
The role involves working on a wide range of automated machinery including conveyors, extruders, palletisers, vacuum packers, form-fill-seal equipment, and wrapping machinery. You will also be responsible for PLC fault finding, electrical installations, and supporting engineering project work.
Key Responsibilities- Respond quickly and effectively to production breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and corrective maintenance activities
- Carry out fault finding and diagnostics on PLC-controlled systems
- Support electrical installations, modifications, and engineering project work
- Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety standards and site housekeeping requirements
- Operate within HSE procedures including:
- Permit to Work systems
- Risk Assessments
- Method Statements
- Safe Systems of Work
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Follow lock-off and isolation procedures at all times to ensure personal and site safety
- Assist with small engineering projects and equipment modifications
- Develop, implement, and maintain maintenance SOPs
- Conduct lubrication schedules and general maintenance activities
- Contribute ideas and recommendations for continuous improvement across the site
- Support plant performance, maintenance compliance, and CMMS planning activities
- Plant uptime and performance

- NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent
- City & Guilds qualification in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering
- Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship
- 17th Edition IEE Regulations qualification
- Strong multi-skilled engineering background (Electrical & Mechanical)
- Experience with PLC fault finding and diagnostics
- Knowledge of servo motor principles
- Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings
- Strong fault-finding and logical problem-solving skills
- Good general workshop and maintenance skills
- Self-motivated with strong organisational skills
- Positive, proactive “can-do” attitude
- ONC / HNC or equivalent qualification
- Leadership or supervisory skills
- Advanced electrical wiring and maintenance experience
- Inspection, testing, and certification experience
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement (CI), TPM, and Lean manufacturing techniques
