An experienced, hands-on Lead Developer is required to join a growing UK and soon to be Norfolk based SaaS business. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys leading from the front—remaining actively involved in development while managing and mentoring a team of 5–8 developers. You will play a key role in shaping the future of the development function as the team continues to scale. The business is evolving its structure, creating a balance between a core team focused on maintaining and enhancing existing platforms, alongside a new innovation-focused team driving forward new product development and ideas. This role offers genuine influence over technical direction, team structure, and best practice within a collaborative, agile environment.
The Role
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5–8 developers, supporting their growth and delivery
- Remain hands-on, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software
- Help shape and scale the development team structure, supporting both maintenance and innovation streams
- Work closely with stakeholders to interpret requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Champion clean, maintainable code and modern development practices
- Support agile processes, sprint planning, and continuous improvement
- Contribute to architectural decisions and integration platform development
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET, SQL
- Solid front-end experience with JavaScript / TypeScript
- Proven experience leading or mentoring development teams
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Strong understanding of software architecture and best practices
- Ability to balance hands-on coding with team leadership responsibilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Location Requirements
- Must be based within a commutable distance of Norfolk
- Currently remote, with Norwich meet-ups once per week
