The Company

Cooper Lomaz are partnering with a global leader in industrial engineering and manufacturing technology to recruit a Technical Customer Engineer to join their UK service team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Field Service Engineer looking to join an innovative business with an excellent reputation for quality, technical excellence and employee development. Working remotely from the Manchester area, you'll support customers across the UK, providing installation, commissioning, maintenance and technical expertise on specialist capital equipment.

The Role

As a Technical Customer Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering first-class technical support both remotely and on customer sites. Working closely with the Sales, Projects and Aftermarket teams, you'll ensure customers receive exceptional service throughout the equipment lifecycle. This is a varied, customer-facing role combining installation, fault finding, preventative maintenance, technical support and customer training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission and configure specialist industrial equipment at customer sites.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive service visits.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults, providing effective solutions.
  • Deliver customer training on equipment operation and best practice.
  • Support customer trials, system testing and process verification activities.
  • Produce accurate technical reports following site visits.
  • Work closely with Sales and Project Engineering teams to support new installations and upgrades.
  • Identify opportunities for aftermarket sales, service contracts and equipment improvements.
  • Provide technical advice and support to customers both remotely and on-site.
  • Represent the business professionally at exhibitions, customer demonstrations and technical events.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer with a strong electro-mechanical background and excellent customer-facing skills. You'll ideally have experience working with capital equipment or automated machinery and enjoy solving technical challenges in a customer environment.

Ideally you'll have:

  • Experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Technician or Technical Support Engineer.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and hydraulic/pneumatic schematics.
  • Experience installing, servicing and maintaining industrial machinery.
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment would be advantageous.
  • Confident using diagnostic equipment and technical tools.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office, with SAP experience beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A proactive and organised approach to problem solving.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Based within the Greater Manchester area with flexibility to travel across the UK when required.
