Multi-Skilled Engineer Fulbourn

Permanent - Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm £43,000 per annum, plus an annual standby allowance of £3,188 (following successful completion of probation and participation in a 1-in-3 standby rota).

Engineers on standby are paid triple time at £62 per hour for call-outs. Additional overtime is paid at time and a half (1.5x) Monday to Saturday and double time (2x) on Sundays

This is a varied, hands-on role involving the maintenance, servicing and repair of a wide range of milling and packing machinery.

You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability through planned preventative maintenance, reactive fault finding and continuous improvement projects, working closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and condition-based maintenance on electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and complete first-line reactive repairs efficiently to minimise downtime.
  • Fabricate replacement components using workshop machinery including lathes, milling machines and welding equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing engineering expertise and identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using a CMMS system.
  • Liaise with external contractors and ensure work is completed safely and effectively.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing training and development.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety and food manufacturing standards.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Level 3 Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineering).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematic drawings.
  • Good fabrication and welding skills.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and motion control systems.

Desirable

  • Understanding of PLC programming and fault diagnosis.
  • Previous experience working with milling or food processing equipment.
