We’re working with a manufacturing business to recruit a Site Accountant. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing operation, playing a key role within the site leadership team and directly influencing commercial and operational decision-making. This is a commercial and operational role not just working with the accounts but a role where you have a lead role in shaping the business and the performance. This opportunity has clear progression and lots of opportunity for personal progression.
The Role
As Site Accountant, you will take full ownership of all financial activity on site, leading a small finance team (with the opportunity to develop and grow this in the short and long term) while partnering closely with operations and commercial stakeholders to drive performance and profitability. This is a highly visible and impactful role where you’ll be instrumental in shaping financial strategy, improving processes, and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop an onsite finance team of 3
- Own all site financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
- Produce weekly and monthly P&Ls with clear commentary and actionable insights
- Deliver detailed variance analysis vs budget and prior year, identifying key drivers
- Take full ownership of the balance sheet, including reconciliations and asset control
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal financial procedures
- Monitor and report on daily and weekly KPIs, driving performance improvements
- Partner with operations to challenge and control costs across labour and overheads
- Support commercial teams with costings, pricing models and margin optimisation
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes with clear assumptions and targets
- Work with stakeholders across the site to improve financial understanding and accountability
- Oversee Capex, including approvals, cashflow forecasting and post-investment reviews
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across cost, efficiency and performance
About You
- Fully qualified accountant or working towards qualifications with proven commercial experience (CIMA preferred)
- Proven experience in a site-based or manufacturing finance role (ideally food manufacturing but not essential)
- Strong commercial and operational finance experience
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to influence and drive change
- Confident communicator, able to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Previous experience managing or mentoring a team
- Advanced Excel skills and strong working knowledge of SAP
- Highly motivated with a continuous improvement mindset
