Mechanical Bias Engineer Salary: £50,000 per annum, paid weekly We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Bias Engineer to join our engineering team. Reporting primarily to the Engineering Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all site facilities, production equipment and machinery operate safely, reliably and efficiently. The role will provide both reactive and planned preventative maintenance, with a strong mechanical focus, while also supporting the wider engineering function when required.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining production performance, reducing machinery downtime and contributing to continuous improvement across the site. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery, plant and site facilities. Respond quickly and effectively to mechanical breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs. Identify recurring mechanical issues and recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability.
Complete routine inspections and condition checks on machinery and plant. Support installation, modification and commissioning of mechanical equipment. Work safely and efficiently while minimising production downtime. Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete relevant engineering documentation. Assist with the planning and prioritisation of maintenance activities. Work closely with production and engineering colleagues to ensure equipment is maintained to a high standard.
Assist with contractor management and ensure work is completed safely and to the required standard. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company procedures, health & safety requirements and relevant legislation. Contribute to continuous improvement projects across the site. Provide support to the wider engineering team where required. The Ideal Candidate To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
- A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification, such as NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Maintenance.
- A recognised apprenticeship or equivalent practical engineering training.
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
