Responsible for the design and delivery of bespoke engineering solutions for client-specific projects, including conveyors, structural steel, sheet metal fabrications, and pipework systems. You will lead projects from concept through to detailed design, validation, and handover, ensuring all solutions meet technical, safety, and commercial requirements. This is a technical leadership role without direct people management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Engineering
- Develop bespoke designs from client specifications and site information
- Design conveyors, structural steel, sheet metal, and pipework systems
- Produce 3D CAD models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks
- Generate GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and apply DFM principles
- Respond to technical queries and support client meetings
- Own engineering deliverables across scope, budget, and timeline
- Work closely with manufacturing, fabrication, and installation teams
- Ensure designs are practical and aligned with production capabilities
- Identify and resolve technical challenges and risks
- Support costing, documentation control, and commissioning activities
Skills & Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in bespoke, engineered-to-order environments
- Strong background in conveyors, structural steel, sheet metal, and pipework
- Advanced SolidWorks skills (assemblies and drawings)
- Knowledge of fabrication methods and design principles
- Strong problem-solving, organisation, and communication skills
