Your Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Hydrogeologist to join our Water team in Shrewsbury as part of the 2026 graduate programme. You will join one of the largest Hydrogeology teams in the UK within Stantec’s market‑leading Environmental Services group. You will support multiple clients across environmental, geotechnical and water disciplines, working with industry, regulators and water companies across the UK, and occasionally overseas.
The team provides services in:
- Water resources
- Groundwater modelling
- River and coastal modelling
- Flood risk assessment
- Drought analysis
- Climate change assessments
- Hydrogeological impact assessment
- Catchment management
What You’ll Work On
- Assessing the impacts of climate change on the water environment and on water supplies, at both extremes of droughts and flooding.
- Investigating the sustainability and impacts of water abstractions on dependent surface water and terrestrial ecosystems.
- Developing conceptual understanding of regional aquifers and how groundwater interacts with surface water, including building numerical models to support regulation of groundwater abstraction.
- Determining the potential risk of national infrastructure projects on the groundwater environment.
- Designing new groundwater abstractions and monitoring borehole infrastructure.
Field and Office Experience
You will undertake a mix of technical field work and office‑based analysis, developing your ability to collect and analyse data and to conceptualise and quantitatively describe hydrological systems and processes.

- Geospatial data processing (GIS)
- Water Framework Directive assessments
