An excellent opportunity for a Quality Technician to join our well-established aerospace manufacturing client in Barnstaple.
Job Type: Permanent, Full time
Salary: £25,000 - £33,000 per annum
Location: Barnstaple
Responsibilities of the Quality Technician:
- Test and Inspect manufactured or repaired products, following test specifications to a high degree of accuracy with the aid of ATE, or long hand test equipment.
- Test & or Inspect product in a timely manner in line with expected costed time restraints.
- Complete Test or inspection tasks in accordance with both General Manufacturing and Aerospace controls (IPC 610/620 and ISO9001 or AS9100 standards).
- Support a wider range of test and inspection functions across the business (ATE & Long hand testing or have a wider experience of inspection across build lines).
- Highlight quality issues where required.
- Lead testing and inspection initiatives.
- Problem Solving and delivering solutions.
- Maintain zero defects, right first-time attitude - Promote a continuous improvement approach in all tasks - Work within a zero-harm culture.
- Working as a willing, competent member of a team with a continuous improvement attitude.
- Flexible in approach with willingness to learn new skills, such as IPC 610/620 or ISO as necessary.
- Ability to work in an orderly manner and organised in a 6S environment.
- Able to work to required KPIs with respect to quality of work, performance & output.
- Identifying & raising problems to the team (immediate/Wider).
- Demonstrate safe behaviour at all times, to ensure yourself and others are safe.
Requirements of the Quality Technician:
- Experienced in quality within the aerospace or a similar high-precision industry.
- Experience in working in low volume, high product mix, build-to-print environments.
- Experience working in design to spec environments following customer drawings and schedules.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work as a team, thrive under pressure and deliver against deadlines.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills are essential.
- Experience in soldering, assembly, PCB build or wiring operations within manufacturing.
- Experience working in a KPI led environment and knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques.
- Accreditations in IPC 610/620 or recognised ESA/ECSS are desirable.
- Trained to recognised standard i.e ONC, HNC, HND in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering.
- Experience working to ISO9001 or AS9100 standards.
