Nottinghamshire (site based)

We are recruiting a General Manager for a highly successful and fast-growing SME operating in a bespoke, project-based environment supplying complex solutions to commercial and retail customers. We require a senior, autonomous General Manager who will ensure the business operates as a well-oiled machine and is commercially ready for the next phase of growth.

The Role

  • As General Manager, you will have full responsibility for the overall performance and day-to-day running of the business, reporting directly to the Managing Director.
  • You will own the P&L, with accountability for revenue, margin, cost control, forecasting, and cash flow.
  • You will lead the senior management structure, with direct responsibility for senior managers overseeing manufacturing, design and installation.
  • You will drive all commercial activity, with strong oversight of estimating, pricing, bid strategy, and project profitability.
  • You will act as the central “conductor” of the business, ensuring people, processes, and priorities are aligned and operating efficiently.

Profile Required

  • Proven commercial leadership background as Commercial Manager, Head of Commercial or Commercial Director within an SME.
  • Strong experience in estimating, pricing, or commercially managing bespoke, project-based work.
  • Background in sectors such as construction, fit-out, interiors, KBB or similar made-to-order environments.
  • Demonstrable P&L responsibility and experience leading a busy business unit.
  • A strategic, credible, and people-focused leader, able to build trust, bring structure, and motivate teams through growth.
