Job Responsibilities
- Interpreting requirements, effectively planning and delivering all elements of railway de-vegetation works.
- Completing all works to high and safe standards, adhering to internal procedures and industry standards.
- Effectively and safely supervising a small team in de-vegetation works, completing Risk Assessments and Team Briefings.
- Operating all plant, tools and equipment necessary to complete work ensuring a high standard of equipment care (i.e. ensure pre-user checks completed, defects escalated and recorded, etc).
- Safe removal/clearance of vegetation as per contract requirements – carrying out accurate tree identification and ensuring work sites are left tidy.
- Responding sensitively and appropriately to queries from lineside residents.
- Observing and following all applicable safe methods of working, and health, safety and environmental rules/procedures.
- Reporting any incidents or Close Calls immediately to the appropriate person.
Qualifications and Experience
- Recent experience working as an operative in vegetation clearance (within the Railway sector/environment).
- Proficiency/skill in climbing/working at height.
- Competencies including PTS, COSS, Chainsaw, Aerial Rescue, Lead Climber, Chainsaw from Rope & Harness.

- Confidence working with various tools and a good working knowledge of health and safety practices.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking pride in completing tasks to a high standard.
- Ability to build good working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Methodical approach to problem-solving with excellent attention to detail.
- The role can be physically demanding – you will be required to work outside, so you must be happy to work in all that the British weather has to offer.
