As our Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll play an important role in keeping our team moving. You’ll help ensure our fleet is safe, reliable and ready for work by carrying out servicing, repairs and diagnostics. In this hands-on role, you’ll be supporting the smooth running of our Workshops and helping our people work safely and effectively every day.
Responsibilities
- Help keep the Workshops running smoothly day to day, taking on tasks as needed.
- Carry out annual services across our fleet.
- Complete routine inspections and servicing to keep our vehicles in top condition.
- Respond to breakdowns, diagnose issues and repair what you can on the spot – or arrange recovery when that’s the safest option.
- Get to the bottom of system faults, identify what’s causing them and complete the necessary repairs.
- Visit sites when required to service or repair vehicles on location.
- Use repair manuals to identify the right parts and raise orders when replacements are needed.
- Repair or replace worn or damaged components.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment, using technical manuals where needed.
- Keep accurate digital and paper records, completing all documentation on time.
- Maintain clear, detailed service histories in line with company processes.
- Keep colleagues updated with timely information during breakdowns and repairs.
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues, suppliers and clients.
- Follow all required safety processes on site, including inductions, briefings and sign‑ins.
- Maintain good working practices and explain technical details in a clear, approachable way.
- Follow all safe systems of work and health, safety and environmental procedures.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Light Vehicle Repair (or equivalent).
- Recent experience in a mechanic role.
- Confidence using digital systems and completing online records.
- Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- A methodical, practical approach to problem solving.
- Great attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- A self‑motivated attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Stays calm and focused when things get busy or unexpected issues arise.
- Can balance working independently with being a supportive member of the team.
- Is organised, detail‑oriented and values clear, accurate record keeping.
- Adapts well to changing demands and is happy to help out where needed across the Workshop.
