About the School

Prince William School is located in Oundle, within easy commuting distance of Peterborough, Stamford, Kettering, Wellingborough, and Corby. It is a vibrant and friendly school that strives to deliver the challenging and inspirational curriculum our students need to prepare them for the ever-changing world of work. We have high expectations for all, and our aim is simple: to be the best school in Northamptonshire and beyond for every student, no matter what their ability or aspirations. This is an exciting time for the school as examination results have seen rapid improvement and the school is expanding under the leadership of a new Headteacher. We are really proud of our 2024 exam results, with an estimated progress 8 score of 0.41 for Key Stage 4.

General Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintain thorough and up to date subject knowledge and pedagogy.
  • Plan lessons and sequences of lessons and support students in meeting their personal and academic potential.
  • Use a range of effective strategies for teaching and for behaviour management, as detailed in the school’s Learning Policy and Behaviour Policy.
  • Ensure the effective deployment of classroom support where appropriate.
  • Use and analyse performance data including prior learning data, progress data and external examination data when planning lessons, and in order to establish and set expectations, targets and action plans for individuals and groups of students.
  • Assess, monitor and record progress of students in teaching and tutorial groups.
  • Set home learning regularly and in accordance with the school’s Homework Policy.
  • Mark work regularly, provide appropriate feedback, and ensure this feedback is acted upon, in accordance with the school’s Homework, Marking and Assessment Policy.
  • Communicate students’ progress with parents and carers.
  • Take part in activities, such as Open Evenings, Parents’ Evenings, Options Evenings and Celebration Events.
  • Engage actively in your own Performance Management and take responsibility for your own Professional Development within the context of the school’s Performance Management and Professional Development policies.
  • Be a team player within your department, contributing to department meetings, improvement plans and evaluation processes.
  • Work with, learn from, and support departmental colleagues.
  • Cooperate with colleagues to ensure sharing and effective use of resources and to inform the process of ordering and allocation of equipment and materials.
  • Alert relevant staff to problems experienced by students and work with those staff to implement solutions.
