We have ambitious plans for our agency and to truly become the stand-out social agency in the UK, the US and beyond.
About the role: We are looking for a tech-savvy, culture-driven Freelance Community Manager (3 hours per day, starting December 1st) to engage with real-time conversations across social—primarily Twitter/X, but also Reddit, YouTube comments, and other developer-focused spaces. This role is highly reactive, fast-paced, and rooted in developer culture. The ideal candidate will have experience in (or a genuine understanding of) tech, AI, dev tools, coding languages, open-source communities, and the way developers communicate online.
Your job is to ensure the brand shows up meaningfully in relevant conversations, threads, and trends beyond owned channels.
- Proactive Engagement
- Engage daily with trending posts, discussions, and memes across Twitter/X and developer communities.
- Search for ongoing conversations around IDEs, coding workflows, AI tools, open-source projects, and dev culture.
- Identify opportunities for the brand to join conversations naturally (threads, replies, quote tweets, commentary).
- Craft smart, concise, and context-aware responses that feel native to dev communities.
- Monitor keywords related to product updates, releases, programming languages, competitors, and industry moments.
- Share relevant content with the internal team that could be amplified through official channels.
- Monitor real-time developer discussions, trending hashtags, and tech news cycles.
- Flag key opportunities for reactive content, witty responses, or education moments.
- Work with the social team to develop copy for reactive posts when deeper responses are required.
- Respond quickly to viral threads, hot takes, or community debates to keep the brand culturally relevant.
- Track sentiment around JetBrains products, updates, and features.
- Flag potential issues, bugs, criticisms, or misinformation for internal escalation.
- Identify recurring community themes, feature requests, and product feedback.
What we are looking for:
- A genuine passion for tech, coding, developer tools, AI, and online dev culture.
- Some level of experience or familiarity with programming, development workflows, or technical terminology.
- Proven experience in community management, ideally within a tech company or fast-paced agency.
- Strong copywriting skills — concise, clever, contextually aware, and aligned with Twitter/Reddit-style communication.
- Ability to shift tone between educational, humorous, technical, and conversational depending on context.
- A proactive thinker who naturally spots opportunities for engagement.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong judgment, and comfort navigating nuanced or highly technical discussions.
- Ability to manage multiple ongoing conversations and product areas simultaneously.
