We’re looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Retail Supervisor to help lead the day-to-dayoperation of our thriving plant area and shop. If you have a passion for plants, enjoy deliveringexceptional customer service and have experience supervising a retail team, we’d love to hear fromyou.

A good level of plant or horticultural knowledge would be advantageous, as would previousexperience working with plants, gardening or within a garden centre or nursery environment. Youdon’t need to be a horticultural expert, however, as the right person will have the enthusiasm andwillingness to develop their knowledge on the job.

Working closely with the General Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our plant area and shopare beautifully presented, well stocked and offer an outstanding shopping experience for everycustomer. This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead by example, support colleagues and help drivesales through excellent merchandising, plant care and customer service.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Supervising the daily operation of the plant area and shop, ensuring products are wellpresented, fully stocked and maintained to a high standard
  • Carrying out and overseeing plant care, including watering, feeding and general maintenanceto keep stock healthy and sale-ready.
  • Creating attractive retail displays, supporting seasonal promotions and ensuring products areaccurately priced and labelled.
  • Receiving deliveries, monitoring stock levels and maintaining accurate stock records using
  • Delivering exceptional customer service, providing knowledgeable advice on plants, gardeningand related products, and helping customers make the right choices for their needs.
  • Supervising and supporting the plant area and shop team by allocating daily tasks, leading byexample and helping maintain high standards throughout the department.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment, ensuring health and safetyprocedures are followed at all times.
  • Supporting the wider garden centre team during busy trading periods and assisting with thesmooth day-to-day operation of the business.
  • Work closely with the management team to ensure the department operates smoothly.

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Previous experience in a plant-focused garden centre, nursery or horticultural retailenvironment would be advantageous.
  • A good understanding of plants, gardening and horticultural products, or a genuine interest indeveloping this knowledge.
  • Previous supervisory or team-leading experience, with the ability to motivate and supportothers.
  • Experience using EPOS systems and stock management processes. Excellent customer service skills and confidence in advising customers on plant selection and
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part
  • of a team. A positive, hands-on approach and a genuine passion for plants and delivering an outstanding
  • A willingness to learn and develop your horticultural knowledge on the job. While some
  • existing plant knowledge or experience would be advantageous, full horticultural expertise isnot essential.
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices within a retail environment.
