Cooley (UK) LLP is seeking a Senior Litigation & E-Discovery Services Analyst to join the Litigation & E-Discovery Services team.
Position Summary
This is a relationship‑driven role sitting at the intersection of legal practice and technology. The Senior Litigation & E-Discovery Services Analyst is the primary point of contact for litigation support in the London office, working closely with litigation and E-Discovery attorneys and legal teams across the full lifecycle of a matter. While a solid technical foundation is required, the ability to project manage effectively, communicate clearly, and build trusted relationships with legal teams is what will define success in this role.
Position Responsibilities
- Litigation Support: Act as a trusted partner to litigation and E‑Discovery attorneys and project managers, supporting all stages of the litigation lifecycle from case inception through to trial. Lead project planning and coordination for document review matters, including developing review protocols, searching, sampling, quality control, and production. Provide training and ongoing support to attorneys, legal assistants, and support staff on litigation systems and applications. Manage relationships with external litigation support and E‑Discovery vendors. Maintain thorough documentation of all work performed on client litigation data and develop process documentation and training materials. Design and maintain litigation databases across platforms including Relativity and DISCO, and other industry standard processing tools, outside service, and software systems for litigation support; oversee quality control of document productions including privilege designations and redactions. Conduct quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of document productions including, but not limited to, privilege and confidentiality designations and redactions. Provide technical support and advice related to litigation technology and electronic discovery. Troubleshoot issues as they arise with litigation teams, systems, and processes. Follow LEDS department and firm policies and procedures related to litigation data management and all aspects of litigation support. Adhere to firm wide client/matter data classification and management standards in identification of client related data. Stay current with developments in E‑Discovery and litigation support technology. Experience utilising AI‑enabled eDiscovery technologies, including Technology Assisted Review (TAR), active learning, generative AI tools, and advanced analytics, with responsibility for validating outputs, applying quality control protocols, and supporting defensible AI‑driven discovery workflows. Ensure accurate and daily entry of billable and non‑billable time and review Intapp entries prior to month‑end closing. All other duties as assigned or required.
- Information Retention & Data Privacy: Collaborate with IRC and data privacy attorneys and clients to advise on information retention and disposition policies, including implementation and operationalise. Take ownership of tracking and reporting on client information retention and data privacy review projects, keeping all stakeholders informed throughout. Develop and maintain IRC resources, templates, and checklists; assist with the design and maintenance of functional information retention schedules across industries and jurisdictions. All other duties as assigned or required.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced legal environment, meeting deadlines and keeping stakeholders engaged throughout.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage credibly with lawyers, clients, and staff at all levels and translate technical concepts into clear, practical guidance.
- Prior experience in a litigation support environment, including electronic discovery and litigation preparedness.
- Hands‑on experience with litigation review platforms such as Relativity, DISCO, Opus and OnCue.
- Thorough understanding of relational databases, litigation support‑related software and technology and the fundamentals of desktop and network operating systems.
- Experience with litigation preparedness and response, including electronic discovery and related support.
- Technical knowledge of and experience with the latest information technology tools and standards to support enterprise information management, as well as applications in data analytics to help organisations manage, classify and efficiently use information.
- Conversant with electronic discovery and risk management issues, concepts and legal ramifications.
- Available to work extended hours as required.
- After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Intapp, Adobe Acrobat, iManage and other Firm applications.
Preferred
- University degree strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic discovery risk management concepts and enterprise information management tools.
- Familiarity with incorporating Generative AI into E‑Discovery workflows with tools such as Relativity aiR and eDiscovery AI (EDAI).
