Business Litigation (Regulatory) Overview

Cooley’s Litigation department has a long history of solving complex issues at the intersection of law and innovation. Led by sophisticated and formidable advocates, our team of 425+ litigators successfully handles high-stakes disputes for cutting-edge global companies, with experience working across 100+ state, federal and international courts.

Cooley is seeking a midlevel associate who focuses on litigation and/or regulatory enforcement investigations involving content moderation, platform regulation and AI matters to join our global team in our London office. Ideal applicants will have 2-5 years of experience focusing on tech-based investigations or litigation. Familiarity with UK and EU frameworks—including the UK Online Safety Act, the EU AI Act and EU Digital Services Act, European Commission and Ofcom enforcement, and emerging global online safety and AI regulations is highly preferred. Successful candidates will have a high level of academic achievement, the ability to engage directly with clients and lead significant projects, general tech fluency, and impeccable analytical and writing skills.

Experience

Key Requirements

  • Ideal candidates will either be practicing within an established litigation and regulatory practice at a leading global firm.
  • Be familiar with global frameworks such as the UK Online Safety Act, EU Digital Services Act, and EU AI Act.

Type of Work

  • The European technology regulatory and investigations practice predominantly advises on content moderation, platform regulation and AI investigations and disputes. .
  • The team helps clients navigate risks associated with new technology, digital assets, and emerging digital regulations including EU AI Act, EU Digital Services Act, UK Online Safety Act.
  • Advising clients on their engagement with international regulators and policymakers is another key component to the work.

Professional Qualifications

  • UK, EU or foreign qualified lawyer (2-5PQE)
  • Strong academic background is essential
