As a UK Tax Accountant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our tax processes across the business. You’ll support the preparation of key tax returns, maintain detailed financial records, and contribute to efficient tax reporting that supports our operational and financial performance. What you’ll do day to day:
- Responsibility for the efficient, accurate and timely accounting for financial transactions, including the production of routine month‑end reports ensuring compliance with applicable accounting, tax, legislative and other regulatory standards
- Prepare corporation tax computations and maintain detailed supporting documentation
- Calculate quarterly corporation tax instalment payments to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare, submit, and arrange payment for the quarterly VAT return for the UK Group
- Support retailer sites with VAT‑free sales queries and general VAT compliance questions
- Prepare and submit the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) and manage the associated tax payment
- Liaise with Deloitte during external audits, providing samples, answering queries, and attending audit meetings
- Support internal auditors during bi‑annual SOX compliance audits, providing documentation and resolving queries
- Prepare detailed tax calculations and disclosures for inclusion in statutory financial statements
- Assist the wider tax team with ongoing projects and process improvements
Helpful skills and qualifications:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport
- Strong Microsoft Office and Excel skills
- Excellent organisational and administrative abilities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage confidently at all levels
- Strong numeracy skills and the ability to work independently to strict deadlines
- Experience in UK corporate tax or VAT, or tax studied as part of an accounting qualification (essential)
- Familiarity with systems such as Keyloop and AlphaTax (desirable)
