There’s more to COOK than food: our shops play active roles in the communities they serve, thanks to the warmth, knowledge, and care of our Retail Team. We’re looking for remarkable people to join us who can host customers in the shop just like they would at home. If that sounds like you, we want to hear from you.
About COOK: COOK is a pioneering frozen food company. Since 1997, we’ve been making remarkable food for your freezer, prepared by hand at our Kitchens in Kent (savoury) and Somerset (puddings) using the same ingredients and techniques you would at home. It means our food looks and tastes homemade, maybe even a bit better. We’re market leaders and, more importantly, our food tastes incredible. We have over 90 shops and a rapidly growing online business. We’re independent (family-owned) and always will be because it allows us to do things the right way, not the fast way. We believe in business as a force for good in society and have certified as one of the UK’s first B Corporations to help us measure what matters when it comes to our impact on our environment, our people, and our community. We share 5% of our annual profits with staff.
Your Team: Support your Shop Manager and team members by being an active part of the team, willing to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. Work together to create a remarkable shop experience.
The Role:
- Offer remarkable service; the customer is always more important than anything else you are doing.
- Use your knowledge to help customers plan menus or advise on catering for occasions.
- Talk to customers about upcoming offers, products, and promotions.
- Ensure the shop always looks immaculate, clean, and spotless.
- Stock is replenished and rotated, and the freezers are full.
- Be efficient and accurate on the till.
- Understand the shop paperwork, necessary legal checks, and their purpose.
- Open and close the shop and cash up.
- Check in deliveries, place orders, and assist with stock taking as required.
- Maintain a smart appearance with apron and name badge on at all times.
Good to Have: If you are a foodie, that’s great, but we will train you to know our products, including how and where they are made, and to understand what dishes suit which occasions. Experience is not necessary, but previous experience of working in retail or in a customer-facing role would be the icing on the cake.
Other bits: Excellent benefits including paid breaks, free food, CookieJar Smart Spending discounts on leading brands, profit share, 30% staff discount, birthdays off, and much more. Due to some lone working, you will need to be over 18. Ask us about flexible working. Our vision for COOK has always been that we are a place where EVERYONE is welcome. We want everyone to feel like they belong at COOK. We all have different roles, different abilities, and different personalities. By collaborating, we can do remarkable things. Whatever your story, if you would like to grow with COOK, please apply.
