We are looking for an Apprentice Legal Assistant to join our Private Client team at Coodes. This is a great opportunity for someone starting their career in law who is organised, keen to learn and ready to develop practical skills while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification. Our Private Client team advises on matters such as wills, probate and estate administration, powers of attorney, trusts and planning for the future. You will support lawyers with day-to-day administration and client care, building a strong foundation for a long-term career in legal services.

What you will do:

  • Handle initial enquiries coming in to the team whether online, by telephone or in person, including booking appointments and diary management.
  • Provide administrative support to the Private Client team, primarily for an allocated lawyer, including file opening and progressing matters under supervision.
  • Make and receive telephone calls to and from clients and other third parties, draft emails, letters and documents under supervision.
  • Support casework throughout its lifecycle, from file opening to file closing, gaining insight into matter progression.

Experience and Qualifications you need:

  • A minimum of 5 x GCSEs which must include English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
  • A-Level in Law (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong communication skills with a friendly, approachable manner, alongside good attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Reliable, flexible, and conscientious, with good organisational skills and a positive, team-focused attitude.
  • Motivated to study alongside work, take ownership of personal development, and build skills through the apprenticeship (previous legal experience is not essential as full training will be provided).

You will love this role if:

  • You are organised, detail-focused, and enjoy helping others.
  • You are comfortable communicating with people.
  • You appreciate variety and like being involved in different stages of a case.
  • You want to build or strengthen a career in the legal sector.

You will be a success if:

  • You enjoy supporting others and being a key point of contact for clients and colleagues.
  • You take pride in being organised, accurate, and reliable.
  • You like working in a friendly, supportive environment where no two days are the same.
  • You are keen to develop your skills and grow within a legal support role.

This role offers a structured apprenticeship with dedicated training and ongoing support, giving you the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification while developing valuable, hands-on experience within a Private Client legal environment. You will be part of a supportive and welcoming team, with the added potential for further career progression upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Additional benefits include:

  • Medical cash plan
  • Life assurance
  • Holiday trading
  • Private medical insurance options
  • Cycle to work
  • Discounted shopping platform

This is a full-time position. 35 hours a week Monday to Friday.

This vacancy will be subject to a DBS Check.
